Smith rally
We went on Friday to Smith for the rally on Saturday. We camped at the Recreation Centre grounds, and nobody else camped anywhere close to us so we had a big field to play ball in. At night we had a campfire and She made up a new game. Just as it was getting dark she started throwing the ball so it rolled down the hill and I'd have to track it with my nose, but I found it right away every time. On Saturday morning we went on the rally, which was relatively short, only 22 kms. I ran every bit of it with only one short rest about half way when we stopped at the checkpoint, and a couple quick puddle submersions along the way.
Smith is a hamlet of just a few hundred people. There's a store, a restaurant, and a pub. After the rally we went to the local pub and They went inside and left me out with the quads, which I was not happy about. One of the amusing things about the pub in Smith is that they smoke in there. There is a big poster on the wall which starts: "This is a heavy-duty smoking establishment" ... and then something like: "if it bothers you, feel free to not come here."
That night we had a campfire again, and in the morning packed up to come home. When we got to Westlock, there was a major problem with a wheel on the camper and we had to leave it there.
